Jane McPherson talks about her ongoing efforts for Tallahassee’s chapter of the One Million Bones project, a national art and action organization aiming to bring awareness of worldwide genocide. Each bone made from clay will be a part of the Tallahassee Bloxham Park Installation and donates $1 for CARE International, a national program that works with genocide survivors. Making human bones from clay signifies the work needed from our hands, minds and hearts to end genocide. The installation was revealed on April 28th.

Meet Tallahassee Talks guest Bob Inzer. Bob is the President of the Board of Directors 2010-11 for the Florida Center for Performing Arts and Education, as well as having served for 19 years as the Treasurer-Clerk for the City of Tallahassee. He was recently with us to discuss the Center whose vision is “to provide an enriching cultural environment for those who live and work in Tallahassee, to enhance our already strong educational community by bringing in a key performance arts based component and to enhance our economic, education, and entertainment future.”The website to learn more is www.theflcenter.org/Vision.

Bob says: “We are no longer a sleepy southern town. As such, we can no longer rely on the stability of state government to drive our economic engine. The Center will be a major draw and economic stimulant to creating a vibrant and economically energized downtown. Imagine the dramatic impact on the Gaines Street revitalization that 300-600 downtown events per year will have.”

Bob has been active with numerous Civic boards/committees in which he has served over the span of 30 years, including:
o Florida Economics Club Board of Directors
o United Way of Big Bend Board of Directors
o Cultural Resource Performing Arts Center Committee
o Habitat for Humanity Board of Directors
o Big Bend Hospice Board of Directors
